My portraits capture an
individual’s character in an intimate and informal
way. I create contemporary images, using natural
light wherever possible to define mood.
I do not use studio settings for any of my work – I prefer the natural
emotions that familiar surroundings produce. The energy and depth of the photos
stems from the inherent life of the subject, rather than from forced or unnatural
poses.
I photograph people of all
ages, in a variety of situations but I specialise
in children’s and family portraiture. I worked
with children prior to becoming a photographer -
as a teacher, then in children’s retail, and
am inspired by the ease children have in front of
the camera and the vitality they bring to an image. |
